The Youth Worker Leadership Conference (YWLC) is an interactive and exciting event for high school students working with youth of all abilities. On Sunday, March 19th, 2017, we will bring together approximately 250 high school-aged youth in the greater New York City area. YWLC will include dynamic speakers, hands-on activities, and workshops.
The YWLC is completely free to attend, though advanced registration is requested and a chaperone must attend with youth under 18. Lunch will be provided! The Youth Worker Leadership Conference is made possible through the generosity of the J.E. & Z.B. Butler Foundation and Ramapo for Children in partnership with the McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research at New York University and ReelAbilities Film Festival.

How much does it cost to attend the YWLC?
The conference is free to attend thanks to our generous funders!
Who is the target audience for YWLC?
The target audience is high school students who are currently working with or interested in working with youth of all abilties.
I am not sure what kind of ticket to choose when registering.
Please use ‘Single Tickets’ if you are registering yourself or just one person. Use ‘Group Tickets’ if you are registering more than one person. Use the name of the school or agency you are registering as the group name. If you are a chaperone, make sure to select a 'Chaperone Ticket' as well.
I am a chaperone and I would like to register a group of students. How can I do this?
To register a group of students as a chaperone, please use the ‘Participant Ticket-Group’ option. Select the number of conference participants you are registering and then add a ‘Chaperone Ticket’ for yourself or whoever will be chaperoning the group.
Can I register for workshops beforehand?
All participants can attend three workshops. Once registered for the conference you will receive a link to register for workshops via email. You can also access the workshop registration form at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YWLC2017. Pre-registration for workshops is mandatory; participants who do not register for workshops will be assigned to workshops.
I am a chaperone. What is my role at YWLC?
We strongly encourage chaperones to be active participants at YWLC! Chaperones should attend and actively participate in workshops, which is excellent role modeling for students.
I would like to attend YWLC, but I am not in high school.
The main audience of YWLC is high school students. If there is additional space, we are happy to accommodate participants. Call Alicia Barry at Ramapo for Children (212.754.7003) to check.
I am under 18. Do I need to attend with a Chaperone? Do I need a permission slip?
Yes, all participants under 18 must attend with a chaperone and submit a permission slip signed by a parent or guardian. Completed permission slips should be emailed to ywlc@ramapoforchildren.org or submitted the day of the event. I attended YWLC last year. Can I attend again?
Yes, we welcome past participants and hope to see you again this year!
Where is the event taking place? Can I travel there via public transportation?
The event is taking place at NYU Kimmel Center for University life located at 60 Washington Square South, New York, NY, which is accessible by public transportation.
Subway Directions to NYU Kimmel Center
- Take the Lexington Avenue subway (No. 6 train) to Astor Place Station. Go west on Astor Place to Broadway. Walk south on Broadway to Waverly Place. Walk westward on Waverly Place until you reach Washington Square.
- Take the Broadway subway (N or R train) to Eighth Street Station. At Broadway walk south to Waverly Place. Walk westward on Waverly Place until you reach Washington Square.
- Take the Sixth Avenue subway (B, D, F, or M train) or 8th Avenue subway (A, C, or E train) to West Fourth Street-Washington Square Station. Walk east on West Fourth Street until you reach Washington Square.
- Take the Seventh Avenue subway to Christopher Street-Sheridan Square Station (1 or 2). Walk east on Christopher Street to West Fourth Street. Continue east to Washington Square.

Yes, New York University Kimmel Center for University Life is handicap accessible.
Do I need to print out and bring a ticket to get in?
No, you do not need to print out your ticket to get in. Your name will be on a guest list at the door once you’ve registered.

Will lunch be served? What if I have a specific dietary restriction?
Yes, lunch will be served upon arrival. Vegetarian and kosher options will be available. We will have a limited amount of kosher food, so please make sure to let us know on the registration page by checking the kosher lunch box. For any other dietary restrictions, please call Alicia Barry at 212.754.7003 at least two weeks before the Conference.
